What: The 47th Annual Juried Student Art Exhibit
When: Opening Reception on Thursday, April 7, 2016, from 5pm -7pm
April 7 – May 5, 2016, Mon – Thur 9:30am – 4pm
Where: Seminole State College – Sanford/Lake Mary Campus, Center for Fine and Performing Arts (G-101)
How: The Seminole State College Center for Fine and Performing Arts Gallery provides memorable exhibitions for diverse audiences, students and artists that promote the value and understanding of contemporary art within a local, national and international context.
Why: Current Seminole State Students have submitted artwork that was pre-selected for this art exhibit. Each year the college showcases current students works of art. Some of these students go on to other colleges and universities to finish up their degree in Fine Arts.
Who: This exhibit is FREE and open to the General Public
Parking: There is free parking lot 12 (Automotive Program Building) and or the North Student Parking Lot.
Overview of the Exhibit: The season concludes with an exhibit featuring a juried selection of work executed during the past year by Seminole State Center for Fine and Performing Arts students. Media include photography, painting, printmaking, drawing, mixed-media, ceramics and sculpture. There is a variety of art to view inside the college gallery. For many of the students this may be there first art exhibition displayed a gallery. At the opening reception, there will be an opportunity for the viewers to vote for year’s Best of Show. There will be various awards given out for top student artwork.
Seminole State College Fine Arts program aims at developing Student Artists into professional Artists. Art students will have to complete the common prerequisite courses for an upper-division art major as part of their general Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree program. After graduating from Seminole State, they can continue their studies at a state college or university with junior standing.
