Deland, FL – This Volusia County Fair is back in town for another year from November 3-13, 2016. Now is your chance to have some good old fashion fun that past generations have experienced. Don’t miss out on the fun and great deals.
The mission of The Volusia County Fair & Youth Show, was founded in 1930, provides a place for youth to learn and show their livestock products; residents of Volusia County are encouraged to participate in art, photography, music, agriculture, horticulture, home and craft projects. The fair gives students an opportunity to showcase their talents while competing for awards.
Before heading over to the fair. Here are some suggested items to bring with you. Have comfortable shoes because you will be doing a lot of walking. Second bring some extra cash on hand. Not all vendors take credit cards. Yes, there are some ATM machines at the fair. And third bring a jacket for the nighttime outing.
It is an easy drive from Orlando to the Volusia County Fairgrounds in Deland. Just take I-4 heading east then exit at (Exit 118A) State Road 44 heading east and take the first right on to the fair property. Next, you will see a sign showing the Volusia County Fairgrounds then turn onto the property. You will be directed to the best parking space at the time you arrive if available. Plus, there is plenty of free parking.
The opening night is one of the best nights to go and see the fair. Admission is free only on the first day of the fair. Gates open at 4pm. It is recommended to get there earlier between 4-6pm on the first night. Parking tends to fill up fast with the closest parking spaces. There are plenty of rides, games, exhibits, vendors, and entertainment.
If your feeling adventurous, check out the Midway filled with rides and games. Plus, there is a Kiddie sections for the little ones. The Midway area has a large Farris Wheel, roller coasters, Fun House, pendulum style ride, bumper Cars, Carousel, Drop Tower, Fire Ball, Flyer Scooters, Fun Slide, Gravitron, Round Up, Swing Boat, and Tilt-A-Whirl which are just some of the fun rides. . It is recommended to purchase an unlimited rides bracelet for the day. It is well worth the money if you’re staying all day. Note some rides may not be present at this year’s fair.
After having fun with the ride, then try your hand at the various games. Most of the games are a game of skill and or chance. These are just some of the games such as Skeeball, Ball and Bucket Toss, Balloon and Dart, Bulldozer, Cross Bow Target Shoot, Duck pond, High Striker, Pingpong Ball Toss, Shooting Gallery, Water Gun Race. Note some of these games may not be present at this year’s fair. Most of the games are pay to play. The more times you play the better the prizes you could win.
One can’t forget the food and drinks at the fair. There is a variety to choose from. Most of the food is of American flair. They have Phillie Cheese Steaks, pizza, pretzels, hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream, funnel cakes, Fried Oreos, and much more. These food vendors are located in one central area near the main outside stage.
There is still more things to do at this year’s fair. One cannot forget theses fantastic exhibits on display. Their arts and crafts to hand made items. These artwork and projects is all under one roof. There are both Children and Adult competitions in each category. Plus, there are ribbons and prize money awarded. These competitions are in fine arts, crafts, photography, cakes, pies, ginger bread houses, canning, quilting, fashion, table setting, and much more. One might get inspired to participate in next year’s fair competition.
For more headliner acts for this year’s entertainment are Chase Byrant and Sha Na Na who will perform on separate dates live in concert in the Tommy Lawrence Arena. These concerts are free with gate admission. It is recommended to get there earlier for the best seats in the house. Plus there is limited seating.

Finally, there were so many things to see at this year’s Volusia County Fair. One needs to mark their calendar for next year’s event. Note there is sometimes traffic jams when exiting off of the fair property. Please be patient and let other vehicles into your lane.
