Two Golfsmith Stores Closing in Central Florida in 2016

Altamonte Springs, FL — Back in November 2016, Golfsmith published a press release stated they were closing 59 stores nationwide. The company was force to close stores because they were in bankruptcy. Now Central Florida has two store closings in Orlando and Altamonte Springs. The Altamonte store will be closing on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at the end of the retail business day. Then the doors locked for a few months and rebranded. It is a great time to shop for golf merchandises at a discount whatever is leftover on the selves. There are very few holdover items in the front portion of this store. Some of the items still for sell are mainly woman’s clothing and a few single golf clubs. The final day is near and they are offering 70-90% off the retail price on all merchandise. The flip side of this story is that Dick’s Sporting Goods has bought the Golfsmith brand from the bankruptcy auction and is now rebranding it into Galaxy Golf brand as another division to their flagship brand. Changes are taking place now. The current employees of Golfsmith will be staying on and transitioning into the Galaxy Golf branded stores. Golfsmith Company is a US based business and has been around 1967 created Carl and Barbra Paul. In August 2014, the company expanded their brick and mortar stores in 20 states with 100 retail stores.

It is sad to see a company like Golfsmith calling four out on the golf course! There are many reasons why the company filed for bankruptcy. Soon the Golfsmith brand will be gone forever. There are many other local golf stores ready to earn your business in Central Florida.
