Altamonte Twin Peaks Restaurant Review

Written by Nathan Wertheimer

Altamonte Springs, FL – On Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at around 6:45pm, I stopped in for a bite at a Twin Peaks Restaurant. This place was crowded, but there was stillroom to get a table. What is unique about this place is the lady waitresses dressing in short outfits and the many television sets around the restaurant. Also, the food is great too. This restaurant is casual dinning.

At this restaurant parking is not an issue. There is plenty of parking available. When I walked into this restaurant I was greeted by a friendly hostess dressed in a bikini with a winter scarf around her neck. She escorted to me an open table. At each table around the perimeter of the restaurant have their own television sets.

On the day of my visit to this restaurant, I wanted to use a free birthday meal with a purchase of a beverage coupon. This meal does not include tip and taxes. How does one get a free meal like this? Well, go to and sign up for their email club. Once your information is processed one will receive weekly ads and special coupons via email. I highly recommend doing this if you frequent this restaurant.

Next, I check out the menu to see what I wanted. The cheeseburger caught my eye. This burger had American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mustard, and mayo. Also, the burger came with a side of French fries. These burgers are made to order. Choose everything or leave some items off of your burger. This meal was valued at $8.99 plus tax. The kitchen prepared this meal quiet fast. Once the meal was brought to the table it looks and ate it. I was quite tasty.

The waitresses at is place will make you feel at home. They are very friendly. Each time you walk into this restaurant they might be wearing a different uniforms. On this day they were wearing the snow bunny uniform along with a scarf around their neck with a knit cap. I asked the waitress how long they were wearing the same uniform. She replied back that they have multi uniforms they wear throughout the year.

If you would like more information on this restaurant please visit This restaurant location has been open for about a year and half now and is a franchise and is owned La Cima Restaurants. This location was a former TGI Friday’s Restaurant.

The 2017 Florida Cup Final Game Review

Written by Nathan Wertheimer

Orlando, FL – On the Campus of UCF at Brighthouse Network Stadium (BNS) the two top teams came to complete on Saturday, January 21, 2017. These two teams were from the same city back home in Brazil, which are San Paulo Football Club and Corinthians Football Club. Both teams brought their A-game to the soccer field.

The Florida Cup has not existed very long; it is only their third season of operation. Their slogan is “Where clubs become nations.” This international soccer tournament ran from Jan 8-21, 2017, and was held a variety of cities in Florida including Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa, and Orlando. Back in 2015, FC Koln from Germany won the inaugural Florida Cup. Then in 2016, Clube Atletico Mineiro from Brazil won the second Florida Cup. Who will it be this year’s winner, you’ll just have to read more to find out.

When I arrived at BNS, I was thinking to myself where are all the crowds for this great international soccer tournament in our very own backyard. The stadium parking lot was not even full with cars and tailgaters. But there was some tailgating in the parking lot going on. Upon game time, the crowds started filling the stands in the low bowl. Both teams’ fans had separate side to watch from. There was a large presents of Law Enforcement and Security on hand for this game. There were no incidents involving Law Enforcement at this game. At one point, I thought the crowds were going to storm the field during the fight, but luckily that did not happen.

During the game, it felt like the early days of USL Orlando City team playing. The crowds did not fill the entire stadium. Only 7,500 fans attended this game. Most of these fans were local Latinos. These fans brought their home team spirit to this game. At some point during the game it was loud. One fans was banging on his drum. To rally the team many fans were banging their feet on the metal bleachers and chanting. The first half of the game was a very physical game. The international soccer is a much rougher game than the MLS soccer style of play. There was incident involving a conflict between both teams where San Paulo FC bench was cleared. One of their plays was given a red card from the Corinthians. Plus, a yellow card was given to one of the San Paulo FC players too. After this incident, the game went back to normal.

During half time at the game DJ Alok, is a renowned Brazilian Super-DJ, who performed his tunes in front of the crowd. Some of the crowd was dancing to his beat. DJ Alok previous performed at the Coke-Cola Orlando Eye during the week. They had huge crowds for these fan day events.

At the end of the game in regulation time, the final game score 0-0. This game could not be called for a draw and or have two co-champions. Then the players took a rest before the soccer shoot-out at the North end of the field. It was quite exciting to see who would become the next 2017 Florida Cup Champion. San Paulo FC beat the Corinthians FC 4-3 in the soccer penalty shoot-out. Here is the break from the shot-out. Corinthians: Fellipe Bastos (saved), Sao Paulo: Joao Schmidt (goal). Corinthians: Giovanni Augusto (goal), Sao Paulo: Cicero (goal). Corinthians: Marcel (saved), Sao Paulo: Araruna (saved). Corinthians: Paulo Roberto (goal), Sao Paulo: Junior (goal). Corinthians: Marlone (goal), Sao Paulo: Gilberto (goal).

When the game was finally over, the referees called the San Paulo FC the champions. The teams huddled together for a big hug and congratulated themselves. Then celebration moved to the center of the field where there was a trophy ceremony and presentation that was made. One could see the look on the player’s faces that they were thrilled they had won the tournament. After the team celebrated their victory, there was a press conference with both head coaches taking questions from the media inside UCF Athletic Building. I was quite surprised by English speaking local media did not attend this game and or press conference. I was one of the few journalists who spoke English at the press conference. I asked the same question to both coaches in English. My question to them was what did you think of the stadium and crowds in the stands. The Corinthian coach did answer me, but only spoke in Portuguese. There was no way to get his answer translated. On the other hand, San Paulo FC coach spoke some English. He was impressed with the facilities and the crowds and hoped to be back next year. The rest of the press conference was spoken in Portuguese. Next year I hope organizers will have a translator is available at each press conference.

With the conclusion of this year’s 2017 Florida Cup tournament, look for more changes to next year’s tournament. Florida Cup will be brain storming on how to get better local attendance for each games. The Florida Cup will need an aggressive marketing plan to show case their soccer tournament worldwide neat year.. However, the Florida Cup did make money on the television broadcast rights in different markets around the world. Plus, the tournament increased attendance over last year.

Margaret Noel Fine Art Exhibit at Seminole State College Review

Written by Nathan Wertheimer

Sanford, FL – It is a start of the New Year and artist Margaret Noel was selected to have a solo art exhibition inside the Seminole State College Fine Arts Gallery from January 19 – February 20, 2017. Noel displays her landscapes and abstracts architecture drawings throughout the art gallery. On the opening night, this artist was unable to her art exhibition.

When arriving on Seminole State College property to visit this art exhibit, you will want to park closest to the Performing and Fine Arts Building. Parking is free. The college art gallery is open Monday thru Thursday 10am – 3pm and during intermission theater performances. The art gallery admission is free to visit, but they kindly ask for any kind of monetary donation to keep the college art gallery open and running strong.

Upon walking into the Fine Arts Gallery a visitor will notice medium size drawings hanging on the wall. There is a total of 19 works of art from Noel. Her work is quite intriguing to look at. She gives the viewer a sense of being there whether in her abstract architecture or her landscapes pieces.

There were three drawings I picked out to critique from her art exhibit. The first drawing is entitled “Façade 1” and was created by ink on gessoed panel. This work can be described as an abstract architecture piece. The drawing has cross hatching lines throughout the entire artwork. Because this piece is a black and white, there is no color anywhere in the drawing. The perspective of the drawing shows many straight lines with repetition of shapes. The viewer may envision this piece looking like a part of a building. Also, Noel has posted that this drawing is not for sale.

The next Noel drawing is entitled “Structure 1” and is a copper point and ink on gessoed panel. When one looks at this piece it is considered to be an abstract architecture drawing. There are many repeated shapes in this piece. One will notice the vertical and horizontal lines that intersect which are cross beams. The viewer will overall think this piece is a building under construction. What gives this away is the open building structure along with the construction scaffolding in between the buildings. It is unknown the location of this building. There are a few colors used in this piece, which are a copper color, tan, gray, black, and white. Also, Noel has posted that this drawing is not for sale.

Finally, the third drawing is entitled “Rebuild 1” and is a copper point and ink on gessoed panel. Noel created this as an abstract drawing. The drawing has monochromatic brown in the piece. The artist gave the brown a washed look throughout her piece. Viewers will notice many repetition shapes and forms in her drawing. In some areas of her piece there are some geometric shapes. As a viewer it is hard to tell what this artist is trying to create in her piece. In my perspective it looks like an unfinished structure of some kind. Also, Noel has posted that this drawing is not for sale.

If your interested about learning more about this artist please visit her website at . On her website one will find her latest art portfolio, biography, and past exhibitions. She is a well-respected fine artist.

The next Seminole State College Art Gallery featured artist is Sean Sexton featuring paintings, drawings, and ceramics. Opening reception is on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 5-7pm. Her art exhibit will run from February 23 – March 15, 2017. For more information go to:

Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus to End Shows in Spring 2017

Written by Nathan Wertheimer

Orlando, FL – It was quit a surprise over the weekend when local media outlets publicized about the closing of The Greatest Show on Earth®. This circus has been running for many years now. Families from many generations have seen and enjoyed this circus. The Ringling Brother Circus was well known about the world. They will truly be missed when when they close down for good.

The reason for this circus closing is speculated that there was a drop in attendance at each show due to the protests and numerous marketing campaigns. Plus, PETA was protesting against the circus elephant having to performing at each show. Back in 2016, it was the last time to see these elephants perform at the circus.

Now with Ringling Brothers Circus ending their tour, there are other smaller circuses around the country hoping to take their place. One cannot compare the other circuses to the Ringling Brothers. They were are top-notch circus.

It is unclear what Feld Entertainment will do with all the props, all of the animals, and circus performers and staff. Some of the props may end up on display at The Ringling Circus Museum in Sarasota. Now the circus will be deciding what to do with all the circus animals. There is some speculation that some of the animals maybe given to other zoos and or possibly other circuses.

Once this circus is gone all that will be left is The Ringling Circus Museum. This museum is located at 5401 Bay Shore Road, Sarasota, Florida 34243, which is about 2 hour drive from Orlando. For more information go

Cheap Eats at Wawa

Written by Nathan Wertheimer

Longwood, FL – There are so many places to eat around Central Florida, but where can you get something to eat and go fast? The place is Wawa with their fresh food counter. They have a wide variety of food items from breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All meals served fresh. I visited Store #5156 on East 434 between Ronald Reagan and State Road 17-92. This store location is fairly new and has been here a short time. Plus, there is plenty of parking along with an outside patio area to sit and eat.

Upon walking into this Wawa gas station I headed straight for the order kiosk. This is where I ordered a 6-inch Pepperoni Sub with Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, sweet peppers, onions, and pickles. This kiosk was easy to use because they went step by step on what a customer wants their deli sub. All food items are made fresh to order and are not like other gas stations where you take what you get prepared deli subs.

Once my order was complete, I waited around a few minutes while Wawa fresh food counter worker prepared my order. They were extremely fast. There were only a few orders ahead of me when I was waiting for mine. After heading to the checkout counter to paid for my food items. The cost of the deli sub was $4.49 plus tax. I left a happy camper. I bought the sub for lunch so I brought along a cooler in my car to keep it cold to eat it later in the day.

Finally, later in the day, I was hungry and pulled out my 6-inch Pepperoni Sub out of my cooler from inside my vehicle. I can tell you this is one of the best deli sandwiches around. I highly recommend Wawa when you’re hungry on the go.
