2018 31st Annual Lake Mary Heathrow Festival of the Arts Preview

Most people will notice that this arts festival has moved to the from the Fall to the Springtime. It will be great weather for this arts festival on the weekend. Come out and support our professional artists. The arts festival is being held on March 3rd and 4th, 2018, at Oval Park near AAA.

Lake Mary is only a short drive from Orlando. Just take I-4 going East to Exit 101A then take a left onto H.E. Thomas Jr Highway Next, take a left onto International Parkway. Look for signs directing drivers to park. There is very limited free street parking available. Most art patrons will pay and park across the street on a commercial office building property. If you live in the area, some festivalgoers will walk or ride their bike down to this venue.

One will notice artist Steve Vaughn, which depicts a very colorful beach scene, was selected 2018 arts festival poster. His poster can be purchased at the information both. A little biography about Vaugh’s life is that he has panoramic photographs are displayed on the walls of numerous Florida corporations and private residences. And not only that, there was surprise and delight recently when one of his small pieces was reported seen on a restroom wall at a Hess service station along Interstate 10!

Based at Tropics Gallery in Winter Park, he also exhibits at outdoor art shows and has been poster artist for the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival, the Mount Dora Arts Festival, the Maitland Art Festival and the Winter Park Autumn Art Festival.

Steve Vaughn comes to art and photography after a 30-year editing career in the newspaper business. During 25 years at The Orlando Sentinel he was sports editor, managing editor and then executive editor of the newspaper from 1980 through 1992. He is a past president of the Florida Society of Newspaper Editors.

Steve and Renae Vaughn, a tax accountant, have been married 50 years. Their son Michael is an attorney in Orlando and a commander in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. Daughter Kelley is a graphic designer and musician in New York City. The Vaughns have five grandsons.

The judges for this art festival have not been announced before this article was published. There are at least three highly qualified judges who will visit all the artist booths. Awards will be determined by category such as Best in Show, Award of

There is much to see and do at this year’s art festival. Catch the 100+ fine artists and crafters, grade school fine arts on display, and live entertainment on the main stage.
