Now is your chance to see history from the past. Why not see what the American Civil War was like in the past. This civil war weekend is being held on March 24 & 25, 2018, and is located at Chisholm Park, on the shores of East Lake Tohopekaliga. Gates open at 9:30am and it is wise to get there early. There is much to see and do at this event.

It is about a 30-45-minute drive from Downtown Orlando to Chisholm Park in St. Cloud. Check your GPS for the best route. The address is 4700 Chisholm Park Trail, St Cloud, FL 34771. There is plenty of free parking near the event area.

There will be many attractions to see at this civil war weekend event. See “7 lbs of Bacon” is a band of brothers dedicated to preserving and playing old time music, the way it was intended to be played: “Skillet Lickin’, Finger Pickin’, Old Time Music.” They have been playing at reenactments, living history events, education programs, Cowboy music events, and dances for over 14 years. The band will be playing civil war period music prior to the battles on Saturday and Sunday, as well as for the Barn Dance Saturday night.

Another attraction to see is Old Time Barn Dance. Mosey on down to the large pavilion on Saturday night for the period Barn Dance. Sing along… and please…. get up and dance!!! If you can’t dance don’t worry. One can watch the civil war dance underneath the stars.

Still around for the Artillery Night Fire. The artillerists typically hold a night fire event from the shore of East Lake Tohopekaliga, on Saturday evening, prior to the Barn Dance. One won’t want to miss this spectacular fire light show.

Finally, check out the traveling Florida Confederate Memorial Wall. Several thousand men (soldiers, sailors, marines, physicians, and chaplains) in the State of Florida’s armed forces died from wounds, diseases, illnesses, or accidents during or soon after the “Civil War.” They were of diverse races, creeds, and nationalities. These individuals were pursuing the dual and, what they believed to be, honorable causes of defending and maintaining the sovereignties of the State of Florida and the Confederate States of America. Although the Traveling Florida Confederate Memorial Wall contains only the names of those who served honorably and died during the period 1861-1865, the initiative endeavors to pay homage to all of the aforementioned personnel. Therefore, the primary goal of this nonpolitical undertaking is to provide an educational and sacred tribute to these men.
