Off Topic – Duke Energy Offering FixedBill Program for One-Year

offtopicgraphicsWritten by Robert Voss

You might have received this information in the mail from Duke Energy. This marketing campaign is called the FixedBill program for Central Florida. They want customers to enroll in this FixedBill payment plan for one year. They quoted me 12 months FixedBill for only $60 per month. I thought this would be a good deal, but hold on one minute. Let me spell out my past monthly bills from 2017 and you decide if you think this deal. The 2017 electric bills are based on a 660 square feet apartment. Here is my household monthly electric bill breakdown:

January 2017 – $49.92
February 2017 – $48.93
March 2017 – $50.56
April 2017 – 47.97 (Lowest Bill)
May 2017 – $49.28
June 2017 – $61.85
July 2017 – $64.06
August 2017 – $68.35
September 2017 – $73.89 (Highest bill)
October 2017 – $68.71
November 2017 – $63.22
December 2017 – $61.51

The total for 2017 was $708.25 with an average of $59.02. However, the total for 2018 FixedBill rate would be $720.00 with a difference of $11.75. As one can see one there is not much of a savings. Duke Energy would profit the $11.75 in their pocket. My honest opinion is this is not a great deal. It might be better for a household who consumes a large amount of electricity. It is recommended to review your past 2017 monthly electric bills. Each household will be quoted a different monthly amount based on their average electricity consumption. Read the fine print before enrolling today.

Customers who are interested in this FixedBill program need to enroll by Saturday, July 14, 2018. Any questions please visit or call 1-800-578-2236.
