Lately, the fans are not showing up this season to see the Orlando Pride taking on the rest of the NWSL teams. There are many reasons why this is happening. Even one of the Pride Goalie Ashlyn Harris was pondering the thought where are all of the fans in the stands. Many news outlets are reporting on this story. Where are all of the fans?
If you build it they will come. This year’s season the fan home attendance has dropped. The Pride is averaging around 3,000 – 8,000 per game. This stadium holds 25,000 fans plus. Some of this depends on whether it is a weekend or weekday game. More fans are able to attend the weekend soccer games than over the weekdays games.
The Pride is a winning team with Morgan and Marta, which are some of the best in the league at the moment. Currently, the team is in second place. Plus, they are better than the men’s Orlando City Soccer Team in the MLS league.
The Orlando Pride marketing has not a strong thing. I have not seen much advertising and commercials being shown on television. It is now time to step up their game by enticing fans to attend these ladies soccer games. Also, I have not seen any fan giveaways either.
If you have been to a game, there is not a huge Pride supporter section at the games. However, the LGBT community loves to rally around the Pride. One can see it at the games. I encourage all mother’s and daughters to check out a game together. Plus, I encourage the father’s take their daughters to a game too. It is a great time for bonding and to encourage young girls that there is a pathway for them in a ladies professional soccer league. Another audience that should play a part is the youth girls’ soccer league. They should attend a few games to watch how these professionals play.
Sometimes this team has overlooked the Brazilian and English tourists base attending a game or two. The Orlando Magic have a good thing going when they need to fill the seats they give a great group rate to foreigners who want to attend. Plus, they bus them in. This is a win-win situation for all.
I am urgent all Central Floridians to come out and support our lady professional soccer team in Orlando. For more information on the Orlando Pride please visit www.orlandocitysc.com/pride .
