2019 18th Annual Winter Garden’s Spring Fever in the Garden Preview

It is now spring time when everything in bloom. This event encompasses a spring theme and is called Spring Fever in the Garden (SFITG), which is being held on April 6 & 7, 2019, in Downtown Winter Garden. This event is run and presented by Bloom and Grow Garden Society of Winter Garden. Bring your family and friends to this exciting outdoors event. There is free admission to this event. Rain or shine this event goes on.

It is a short drive from Downtown Orlando to Downtown Winter Garden. Check your GPS for the best route there. It is recommended to get there early for the best and closest parking available. There is a limited number of free parking available. Some parking lots and private property may charge for parking too. Some free street parking is available in the residential area.

The sights and sounds of (SFITG) will amaze you. Check out the many artisans, crafters, nurseries, entertainment, and everything else in between. Walk around and have a great time. Don’t forget your comfortable walking shoes.

There will be many plants and flowers vendors who are the main attraction at this event. It is suggested to arrive early for the best picking from the various nurseries. Towards the end of the day some plants may look wilted due to sunlight. Prices on the plants and flowers are sold directly from the nursery. Cut out the middleman by buying from these vendors. Retail store prices on plants and flowers are much higher

Check out the Kids Zone. The Spring Fever in the Garden festival has something for everyone in the family. One of the most popular areas is KIDZONE with activities that pertain to the environment as well as just plain fun.  Admission and participation is FREE! Here is what types of activities your kids will enjoy such as a cute clown will paint a ladybug, butterfly or flower on the children’s faces, children can plant seeds to nurture and watch them grow at home. Plant them both days, all day. Lowe’s will conduct a workshop on Saturday only. Train Man, Mark will be there with exciting and information demonstrations on trains and train safety. Benny the Butafrom will also be walking around through KIDZONE. Take a picture with “The Frog” with butterfly wings!! There will be a craft table so children can make items and learn about crafts. A representative from UCF will be on hand to discuss animals, bugs and their habits. He will have bugs with him! Live ladybugs will be available to take home and release in your garden. Orange County Library will be on hand to issue library cards. Hands on craft table for a one of a kind craft piece for kids to take home. The stilt walker will be there throughout the festival. Dino Dig table where kids will dig for fossils. Lots of balloons will be available for everyone! And, so much more!

Check out the Chalkin’ It Up area near City Hall. All Artists of all ages are welcome to participate in the “Chalkin’ It Up” event on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at 9am. Put your creative juices to the test by designing a sidewalk chalk masterpiece at “Chalkin’ It Up”,
Each entry will have a 6×6 square and will be asked to create something nature related and appropriate for all ages to view. Each chalk artwork must be completed by 5pm at the end of the day on Saturday. The judges will be reviewing all entries on Saturday. Awards will be given out after 5pm on Saturday. There will be $2000 in prizes will be awarded in numerous categories such as adult, individual elementary, middle and high school student, elementary, middle and high school group, $400 for people’s choice and $700 for best overall.

Stick around for some great free entertainment at the gazebo in the center of town and the stage of City Hall. Musicians will be playing between the hours of 10am – 4pm on Saturday and 12pm – 3pm on Sunday. Entertainment schedule posted on event website.

Many shops and restaurant will be open during this event. Browse these unique shops, which are independently owned. They have antiques, specialty gifts, bicycles, hardware, and much more. Also check out the local bars and restaurants. Taste a variety of foods from American, BBQ, Cafes, Cajun & Creole, and much more. These restaurants are independently owned and operated.

To remember this festival, check out the event poster/t-shirt stand while you’re at this festival.  The 2019 “Spring Fever in the Garden” t-shirts and posters will be available at the festival on Saturday & Sunday, April 6th &7th.
