There are many con artists in this world. I have encountered one of them in Downtown Orlando during a huge event. Don’t let this discourage you from visiting Downtown Orlando. This individual is looking for a victim to voluntary give him money.
This individual does not look like a transient. He is clean dressed. However, he tries to act a certain way for a story. The other day I saw this white male, in his a late 40’s, wearing a black dress shirt, a white towel around his neck green cargo shorts, and sunglasses on his forehead. He comes across are friendly and has been known to frequent parking lots and garages in the Downtown Orlando area.
There are a few stories he might tell you. This will depend on the mood he is in. One story he told me was, one of his friends drove him up to Orlando for an event and then ditched him. Now I don’t know how to get home. I don’t have a cell phone on me. My wife is overseas right now and won’t be back for a while. By chance can you please spare me a few dollars so I can get a taxi ride back home to Kissimmee. I have no money on me. Anything can help. He’ll stand right in front of you and look you straight in the eye when begging for money.
Although most people might believe this story, there is no way to verify his story. I told him, I don’t have any cash and have a nice day. Then departs and heads towards anyone else who will listen to him. Please don’t feel sorry for him. There are places in Orlando for people who are individuals looking for a handout. Another person in Orlando I knew got contacted by this same individual a few times. He said, he has told him several stories asking for money. So he knows about his con game.
If you decide to give this individual money, you are telling him he is welcome in the area anytime and his behavior is acceptable. This is something the general public should be discouraging. Please be advised that if you’re in the downtown area you may encounter this individual confronting you for money over a sad story he’ll tell you. Never give a stranger any money for any reason.
If you have any issues with this individual please call the law enforcement for assistance. This is considered panhandling. If you like this article, then like it on our Otownfun WordPress account.
