Mark your calendar for the 2019 The Villages Model Train Show & Sale on August 17, from 9am – 4pm, and August 18, from 10am – 3pm, at the Scarlett O’Hara Theater at Savannah Regional Recreation Center. Check out the multi-gauge operating train layouts, items for all gauges on sale, and much more. Buy-Sell-Trade your model train set at this event. Walk around in a comfortable air-condition controlled event space. Rain or shine this event goes on.
It is an hour and fifteen-minute drive from Downtown Orlando to Scarlett O’Hara Theater at Savannah Regional Recreation Center. Check your GPS for the best route there. There is plenty of free parking near building. The address for event is at 1545 Buena Vista Blvd., The Villages, Florida 32162. It is located on the corner of Buena Vista Blvd and El Camino Road.
Admission to this event is $6 and Children under 12 are Free. Please be advised there is a discount postcard for $1 off admission with this card. Just a reminder to please bring cash for admission into this show.
What to expect at this model train show.? This show’s maximum capacity is 144 tables and has had sellouts for the past 4 years and counting. Average paid attendance has been well over 1000+. Most vendors only accept cash for merchandise. However, some may take credit cards too. Model train inventory on the table is mostly used. However, there maybe some new train merchandise too. Food and beverages are available from a concessionaire and interactive multi-gauge layouts serve to enhance and attract attendance. Test tracks are available in the vendor area too.
What is The Villages Model Train Club (VMTC)? The Club meets at the Colony Cottage Rec Center on the Second and Fourth Thursday of each month from 1 PM until 4 PM. The Villages Railroad Historical Society is a group of men and women dedicated to fostering a deeper knowledge of railroading in Central Florida by encouraging the collection, preservation and interpretation of railroad history through conferences, publications, awards, educational programs and related historical activities. Members are presently building a model railroad in the Lady Lake Railroad Museum, which represents railroad activity in the Lady Lake, Florida area in the 1940s & 1950s. The VRHS was incorporated and chartered as a non-profit 501c-3 Corporation in 2008. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Donations of trains, accessories, or equipment are also welcomed. They also produce are winter vendor train expos too. Information from club website.
