Do you love shopping then check out the Port Shopping seminar on the Mariner of the Seas or another cruise ship. When you walk on the ship to start your cruise, you may be handed a Port Shoppers VIP flyer to attend this information on port shopping and ship shops as well. This seminar takes place on the first day of your cruise inside the Royal Theater. Don’t miss it.
It is advised to arrive early to this shopping seminar and sit in the front row. Attendees may even have a chance to get free swag and prizes. Don’t forget to register for the raffle prizes and put your ticket in the bag on the front of the theater stage.
Who are Port Shopping Guides? In February 2011, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. announced an exclusive agreement with Royal Media Partners, a new company founded by cruise industry entrepreneur Philip Levine. As the exclusive onboard media partner of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., Royal Media Partners provides customized Port Shopping services for ships in Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, and Azamara Club Cruises, and Silversea’s fleets sailing in Europe, the Caribbean, Bahamas, Mexico, and Alaska. Information from Royal Media Partners website.
This was something I did know about the Port Shopping Guide. They are a third party company working on this ship. There are other articles out there about these guides are sales and marketing agents. These guides are knowledgeable on the local port retail stores that they are promoting.
On my cruise we had Port Shopping Guide Nick Scheerer who is from Toronto, Canada. He explained how he got the bug for shopping. All Port Shopping Guides claim to be experts in jewelry and can save you a ton of money.
During the shopping presentation, it is advised to take notes on the Nassau Port & Shopping Map and or on another port. You’ll want need a pen to mark on the map for the places you want to shop at. This is key to not wasting time looking at all the recommended shops looking for a certain item. Plus, the stores are backed by Royal Caribbean guarantee. This is a good thing.
Some of the top stores cruise guests visit is the Diamonds International, Crown of Light Specialty Shop, Safi Kilima Tanzanite Gallery, Tanzanite International, Tag Heuer Boutique, Del Sol, Cariloha, RIP Curl Flagship Store, and much more.
At the end of the seminar, the Port Shopping Guide will be drawing on many prizes. Don’t leave the seminar early or you’ll miss out on the great prizes, which one has to be present to win. If you name is drawn and you’re not there, then audience will shout out “Oh Ship” until they have someone who is present who can win the prize.
Some of the prizes they were given away were a free spa day, 2-tickets to Trill Island Water Park at Coca Cay, jewelry, t-shirts, and much more. Prizes are subject to change without notice.
Also, don’t forget to hand in your Port Shoppers VIP form check off with the items you will want to buy. Later on, you’ll receive in your stateroom an envelope with the retail stores discount and information cards. Save it and bring it with you when you’re on land. Without these store cards, you may not get a discount on certain merchandise.
