ORLANDO, Fla. (January 6, 2020) – New York Times bestselling author, Debbie Macomber, has been announced as the next special guest speaker for the Orange County Library System’s Library After Hours: An Evening with Debbie Macomber on January 31 at Orlando Public Library.

Commonly known as the “official storyteller of Christmas”, she is one of today’s most popular writers with over 200 million copies of her books in print worldwide. Her tradition of releasing an annual book for the holidays has led her to have five of those books made into Hallmark Channel hit movies. Macomber is also the author of the popular Cedar Cove Series, which Hallmark Channel chose to make into its first dramatic scripted television series, rating as a favorite for three straight seasons.

“To put it simply, I wanted to become a writer because I had stories to tell,” says Macomber when asked why she became an author. “I was always interested in people—in what happens to them and what they choose to do or not do and why—which is the basis of story. I knew from the time I was in grade school that I wanted to write books, but it was a dream I kept close to my heart for fear someone would laugh or tell me I’d never be published. I started my first book at age 30, as a young mother of four, so I had some living under my belt.”

During Library After Hours, Macomber will read from her selected bestselling works while sharing the inspiration behind her stories and the process of bringing them to life on the page. Along with her works in fiction, she has published three bestselling cookbooks, several inspirational and nonfiction works, an adult coloring book, two acclaimed children’s books and a journal. On top of being a successful writer, she owns two businesses in Port Orchard, Washington, where she lives with her husband, and serves on the Guideposts National Advisory Cabinet, a Pearl S. Buck International Honorary Board Member, a YFC National Ambassador, and the recipient of a lifetime achievement award by the Romance Writers of America.

Library After Hours: An Evening with Debbie Macomber takes place at Orlando Public Library, 101 E. Central Blvd., on Friday, January 31 at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. A limit of three books per person is allowed for signing. Event proceeds benefit the Friends of the Library, which raises money to support library programming throughout the year.
