To prepare your day at this air show, here are some recommended tips. Check the weather conditions for the day before leaving for this airshow. Dress comfortably and wear comfortable walking shoes. Also, beware of the wind and sand flying up on the airfield. Here are some must bring items to the airshow which are sound muffs/ear plugs, sunglasses, sun screen, a poncho, a baseball hat, bring some extra cash, a lawn chair, and a camera.
It is a short drive from Downtown Orlando to Lakeland Linder Regional Airport. Please check your GPS for the best route there. Watch for signs directing drivers to airshow parking areas. Sorry, no free parking. Parking per vehicle ranges from $10-$20 cash. Get there early for the best parking space selection. When arriving and departing this airshow traffic maybe heavy, so pack your patients. The airshow staff and law enforcement will have crews directing traffic. Some roads may be closed as well. Drive safely because there will be many people walking near the streets.
Check out the flight line on the tarmac. There will be many jets and planes to view and to get an up close inside some of the jets’ cockpit. One will see both civilian and military jets. Here is just a sampling of some of the jets and helicopters such as a Dolphin, Huey, military transport jets, F-15, F-18, F-4, and other vintage aircrafts too. There will also be a display of drones to see too. Also, watch out for aircrafts that are arriving and departing the tarmac. Safety is number one priority for all visitors.
Also, check out some open airport hangers too. Plus, there are some permanent aircraft exhibits to see too. Walk-in inside a Fedex Express cargo jet and see much more.
If you get hungry, there will be many food and drink vendors to choose from. Prices range from $2-$15 depending on what you purchase. Choose from hamburgers, hotdogs, pizza, salad, ice cream, and much more. For drinks there are water, soda, coffee, lemonade, much more. Just one reminder to please put litter in its place at this air show. Trash that is flying around the airfield is not good for an aircraft’s engine.
Don’t forget the airshow souvenirs. One can buy military flight patches, airshow posters, flightsuits, model aircrafts, and so much more. Prices on merchandise will vary. Many souvenirs stands will be at many locations within the airshow area.
Nikon Preferred Seating for the airshow is available. If you’re a serious photographer then add this package to your admission for only $30. Get the best view in the house. Many photojournalists get the same access along with the Amateur Photo seating area too. This special package fills up fast. Get close to the action.
The sights and sounds of an airshow will keep you entertained. It is recommended to stake out your place before the airshow for the best viewing. Place your lawn chair near the flight line, which is roped off for your safety. The center of the airshow is where the announcer and Air Boss are located. Stick around towards the end of the airshow for the US Thunderbirds. This military aerobatic stunt team will amaze you in the sky.
