Major League Baseball and other media outlets have recently reported Florida and Arizona Could Potentially Host Regular Season Games in 2020. This would be realignment for both the American and National Leagues. A final decision has not been made yet. Stay tuned for more information.
This league plan has never been done before with the exception of a season strike. With so much riding on getting rid of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic, which is being decreased, many people want to get back with their lives. Players and fans can’t wait for professional baseball to get back into swing of things.
I hope MBL goes through with this option to bring the whole season to both Florida and Arizona. This would be a great opportunity for residence living in these states to see teams they would not usually see in the regular season.
There have been other options that have been floated around the league too. Such options are playing the entire season in Japan during the daytime hours, or have all 30 teams playing in Arizona only, or cancelling the entire season. The only way the season can begin that all owners, players, and the league must agree on a single option. Once President Trumps says the country is back open for business then you’ll see the league make a statement with what option it is going with. Hopefully, they will make the right decision.
Many of the baseball spring training stadiums do not have large home field for a regular season games. These stadiums can hold 7,000 to 15,000 depending on the layout. The other factor is the weather too. Florida has warm and some rainy days during the summertime. There have been talks about playing some games in both domed stadiums in Florida with a variety of team match ups. Would it matter what match ups they are? Probably not.
If you hold baseball games in Florida will fans be allowed to watch in person? If given the chance, I believe fans are hungry for some exciting entertainment after being held up at home during this long pandemic period. Look for locals and vacationers to buy tickets to these games. It would be a win-win situation.
Look for local and national media to be covering these games too. There will be a high demand for media outlets to get credentials for each game. Personally, I would be excited to cover a few games as a journalist.
Fans should hold on to your seat while all of us wait to see while MBL finalizes their plans for the up coming season. For more information please visit http://www.mbl.com .
