Cheap Eats – Jersey Mikes Subs in Downtown Orlando

Are you hungry for a sub sandwich? If you said yes you’re not alone. There are not too many sandwich shops open in Downtown Orlando during the Coronavirus pandemic period. Luckily, Jersey Mike’s is open for business.

Who is Jersey Mikes Subs? In 1956, this shop opened for business by a guy named Mike in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. Then in 1975, Peter Cancro bought the original shop and became the third owner. Eventually they changed the name to Jersey Mike’s. In 1987, this company began selling franchises throughout the United States. Today, there are over 1,592+ shop locations and still going strong. Information found on

On their company’s website they state, “At Jersey Mike’s, we offer a sub above – one that’s measured in more than inches or seconds ‘til served. We carefully consider every aspect of what we do – every slice, every sandwich, every store – we provide our customers with sustenance and substance too.”

I can’t remember the last time that I had a Jersey Mike’s Subs. First, I went to to check out their food menu. Then I browsed the cold subs section. The #1 BLT sandwich caught me eye. I did not know what to expect when buying this sub.

On this shop’s website they describe this sub as “The BLT was added to the Jersey Mike’s menu in the mid-90’s and has earned its spot at #1. Served with freshly grilled Applewood smoked bacon, shredded iceberg lettuce and perfectly ripened tomatoes, try it Mike’s Way for that extra and unexpected zing you’ve been missing.”

Next, I decided to order a sandwich over the phone. A friendly employee took my order. I customized my sandwich with grilled bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, dill pickles, banana peppers, and oil and vinegar on white sub bread. The cost of a sandwich ranges from $8-$14 dollars for tax.

After completing my order, the shop associate told me it would take about 5-10 minutes before my order was ready. I said super. Once I got off the cell phone, I started making the walk over to Jersey Mike’s shop. When walking into the shop, no one is allowed to eat at the dinning room tables. All customers must carryout or get their food delivered until further notice from local government.

Once I paid for my order and headed back to my office. I could not wait to dip into this nice freshly made sub sandwich. Upon first bit, I thought this sandwich was awesome. One can taste the freshness and good quality of this sub. This place does buy any bacon. The Applewood smoked bacon is the best tasting bacon in the market place.

Finally, I recommend this sandwich shop over other restaurants in the area.   I’ll defiantly be back to buy more sandwiches from this place. Try it for yourself.
