Orlando Magic going to Walt Disney World to restart the 2019-20 NBA Season

You may have heard the news that the NBA is bring 22 teams to Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando. They will be living and playing in “a bubble.” Players’ will not be attending a convention and or be on vacation. This is all work and no play for the guys. However, some players maybe bring their families for emotional support.

For some of us that live in Central Florida, they will be playing in our backyard. How exciting is this. Orlando Magic has an edge because there is no air travel involved besides taking a team bus from Amway Center to their Disney resort hotel and playing some b-ball. It is unknown at this time what resort the team will be staying at. Fans will not be hanging around the lobby of the hotel to get player autographs. Orlando fans are advised not to temped to break in to the bubble. There will be heavy law enforcement and security at the NBA compound. Trust me on this.

While teams are in the bubble here is what is going to happen. All players, coaches, staff, families, media, officials, and much more will be tested for the Coronavirus on a daily basis. Any persons who test positive will be quarantined for two weeks and re-evaluated.

The re-start 2019-20 season games will be played at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex. Fans will be able to see live games being broadcast nationally. Sorry, no fans in attendance at these games. These games will restart on July 31, 2020 and stretch until October 12, 2020.

Here is the break down of the 22 teams who were invited for the restart. For the Eastern Conference – Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, Indiana Pacers, Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets, Orlando Magic, and Washington Wizards.

For the Western Conference – Los Angeles Lakes, LA Clippers, Denver Nuggets, Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, Portland Trail Blazers, New Orleans Pelicans, Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs, and Phoenix Suns.

The flip side is the NBA championship game will be played in Orlando. Wide World of Sports is a neutral place for all teams. Some fans will say Orlando Magic has an advantage to go far into the playoff. We will have to wait and see on this. Can the Orlando Magic get into their groove again? Most of the players should be healthy and ready to play again.

Here are my final thoughts on this story, with the players being off for three months now. Are players in shape to play at their top performance? Take 2 on the mini training camps. Teams that work hard together, stay together, and end up taking the NBA Championship trophy. This year’s trophy is up for grabs. Stay tuned and watch these games on TV. Check your local TV listing for games.
