Cheap Eats – Calzone at Anthony’s Pizzeria & Italian Restaurant in Altamonte Springs

Recently on a Saturday afternoon, I stopped by Anthony’s Pizzeria & Italian Restaurant in Altamonte Springs, for a bite with a good friend. Don’t get this place confused with the other Florida restaurants with the same name. This is an independent owned pizza restaurant.

Here is some brief history this Pizzeria. They have been in business at the same location since 2006. Plus, the same owners have owned it for years. They are still cooking and baking the same great Italian lunch and dinner meals seven days a week. This pizza parlor is located at the shops of Gateway Crossings at 851 South State Road 434, Suite 1110, Altamonte Springs, Florida 32714.

Upon arriving at this restaurant, my friend and I walked inside the restaurant and could pick anywhere we wanted to sit. We choose the booth near the back of the restaurant. A friendly waitress waited on our table. Plus, there is also outside seating available too.

There are a lot of choices on the menu. They had everything from pizza, Calzones/Stromboli’s, homemade soups and salad, appetizers. Everything was made fresh to order.

At first, I could not decide whether to eat a slice of pizza or a Calzone. What’s in the small Calzone? Their Calzone contains Mozzarella and Ricotta cheese contained in a baked pizza crust. Plus, it served with a side of Marinara Sauce. Both of use chose the Calzone. It is a great choice if you are extremely hungry.

Once our order was placed it did not take long. The Calzones were baked in the oven. When the hot Calzones were brought to our table, she and I thought the Calzone were extremely large. Two people can split one together and still feel that they ate enough.

On the side, we requested some Oregano season, Parmesan Cheese, salt, and olive oil. I added some everything except for the salt. It tasted awesome. I can’t remember the last time I had a hot and fresh Calzone.

The Marinara Sauce was quite tasty for dipping. I think it maybe was a little sweet similar too the Ragu Pasta Sauce. I could be wrong.

Because both of us had a lot left over, so we decided to box it up and take it home. She finished her Calzone that night. The next day, I finished off my Calzone.

Overall, the food was great and I would visit this place again. I have a little Italian in me and I consider this real Italian food made from scratch. For more information on this restaurant please visit
