I am writing this article based on my experience along with my friends buying their State of Florida Fishing License at a Wal-Mart Store. Before going down to a Wal-Mart store check the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) website at www.myfwc.com/license . This will save you time and money.

A few weeks ago, I visited a local Central Florida Wal-Mart Store to purchase my fishing license. It is recommended to get your fishing license on the weekdays when there are fewer lines to wait at the Sports Department counter. Never go on a Sunday because the State of Florida FWC computer server maybe down for routine maintenance.

Consumers should note to get both the Fresh Water Fishing license along with the Saltwater Shoreline Fishing License too. A friendly Wal-Mart associate was able to assist me with it. To process both fishing licenses it took around 5-10 minutes based on how slow the computer was processing this request. He was also added the Saltwater Shoreline Fishing License with the other license at no charge. Wow! Even I did not know that. That was great customer service.

The cost for both the Fresh Water Fishing license along with the Saltwater Shoreline Fishing License is just $17.50. One can pay by cash and or credit card to complete the process. Note that this is only for a paper license and not a plastic photo ID license.

While at the store, pick up a “Florida Freshwater Fishing Regulations” publication. This is a valuable guide for general statewide freshwater fishing regulations. Know fish what to keeps and or throw back in the water.

Another thing that consumers need to know is that all sales are final. License and permit fees and charges are nonrefundable. This is not a store policy. It is run by FWC.

Once you renew your fishing license next year it will be easy to process. The information will be already in the system. Go have some fun with your fishing license. I know I did. Go catch some trophy fish.
