Press Release by ICON Park
Entertainment complex to be home to three world’s-tallest attractions
ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 6, 2021) – ICON Park, Orlando’s go-to-spot for locals and travelers, will unleash an impressive line of new attractions in the coming year. The easy-to-access entertainment complex has already committed to four major projects for 2021, with many more on the way including new restaurant concepts.
Chris Jaskiewicz, ICON Park president and CEO, shares that the $250 million, 20-acre entertainment complex is in growth mode. ICON Park is already home to over 40 amazing restaurants, funky bars, boutique shops and can’t-miss attractions, but this is just the beginning.
“2021 is set to be a big year for ICON Park. In addition to a number of exciting concepts arriving at the complex, the world’s tallest slingshot and drop tower will join our lineup of record-breaking thrill rides,” said Jaskiewicz. “Our team has been extremely busy growing our portfolio of attractions, restaurants, bars, shops and more. The Orlando Entertainment District will be your one-stop-shop to play and explore, starting right here at ICON Park.” The new attractions slated for 2021 include:
ICON Park Slingshot™
The ICON Park Slingshot™ is the world’s tallest slingshot ride at 300 feet. The two-tower attraction will launch two riders out of an “exploding volcano” approximately 450 feet straight up into the sky and reach speeds of up to 100 mph. Guests will be able to soar on this ride starting summer 2021.
ICON Park Drop Tower Standing at a daunting 430 feet, the ICON Park Drop Tower is the world’s tallest free-standing drop tower. Thirty riders will be able to embrace the beautiful sites of ICON Park and I-Drive as the ride vehicle rotates around the gigantic tower and rises high into the skyline. Once the ride vehicle reaches the top, it’ll tilt forward 30 degrees and face the ground for a brief moment before free falling nearly 400 feet at speeds reaching out over 75 mph. Guests will be able plummet on this ride starting summer 2021.
Museum of Illusions Scheduled to open Jan. 9 with over 50 intriguing exhibits, Museum of Illusions offers more eye-fooling fun under one roof than any other destination in Central Florida. The museum’s collection of interactive, immersive and distinctly incomprehensible exhibits is based on math, science and psychology. Visitors are prompted to learn about the tricks of perception and how the human brain works as they move through each exhibit. Imaginations can run free in the vast expanse of the Infinity Room, defy the laws of gravity in the Reverse Room, and shrink to miniature size in the Ames Room – all while capturing a coveted, baffling photo.
In The Game ICON Park Launching in early 2021, In The Game ICON Park is a must-do for visitors of all-ages. This 7,000-square-foot space inside of The Wheelhouse will offer a large collection of activities, games and prizes. It’ll feature an interactive mirror maze, themed escape room, virtual reality, a Bob’s Space Racer Game and the 7D Dark Ride Adventure. “If there’s one thing we’ve learned from 2020, it’s how important locals are to Orlando’s tourism industry. Despite travel being lower than previous years, Saturdays have actually been busier for ICON Park in recent months when compared to 2019 numbers,” said Jaskiewicz. “As we continue to grow, we’re looking for unique tenant partners both tourists and locals will enjoy.”
ICON Park is at the center of the new Orlando Entertainment District. Conveniently located near I-4, Universal Boulevard and the Beachline, this premiere entertainment complex is easy to access for any Central Florida resident.
