Press Release by Urban Sketchers Orlando
Orlando Urban Sketchers Weekday sketch-out journey continues. This time we are trying a Wednesday meet-up day.
WHEN: Wednesday, July 14th
10:00 am to 12:00 pm
WHERE: W Church Street, Downtown Orlando.
In this meet-up, we will capture Church Street’s 1889 old architecture charm, side by side with Orlando’s high-rise vibes, into our sketchbooks.
We will sketch along a short strip between Orange Ave and 128 W. Church Street in a slow Sketch-crawl.
MEET UP LOCATION: We will meet at the open sitting area on 64 W Church St (see the Church Street Market sign) in the square across from the 55 West Building.
We will sketch as we walk, cross the railroad to capture that old train station scene and continue to a roofed area by the old Cheyenne Saloon building.
Because the Church Street strip holds lots of charm and many stories to draw we will exercise sketching short and quick segments in small thumbnails 2″x2″ or 3″x3″ squares, dividing our sketchbook page into four or six square sections.
While this meet-up doesn’t provide formal instruction, we will support each other, share our techniques and drawing styles, our use of tools, and our passion for urban sketching.
What to bring:
} Sketchbook, pen, color pencils, markers, watercolors, any tool you feel comfortable drawing with.
} Optional: Paper tape (removable)
} Plenty of drinking water.
} Folding stool chair.
} Dress for the weather.
* Like every Florida summer, we might meet some showers. If not a severe rainstorm we will seek temporary shelters in the area.
At 12:00 pm we’ll gather for our traditional Sketchbook Throwdown (Show&Tell).
If interested join us post-meeting for lunch in a nearby food venue.
PARKING: SunTrust parking is the most convenient garage to park at. More garages are available around Church Street.
Share this event with friends, sketchers, or those who wish to try sketching in a sketchbook on location.
We hope you can Make it!
