Mark your calendar for the Urban Sketchers Orlando presents Drink & Draw in Orlando on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 6pm, at The Hall on the Yard in Ivanhoe Village. This activity is a traditional Urban Sketchers evening gathering around a table. This is an adult event for anyone 21+. All sketching levels are welcome. Rain or shine this event goes on.
This activity is taking place in the Downtown Orlando area. Check your GPS for the best rout there. When arriving in Ivanhoe Village just look for any available street parking and or a public parking lot. Please do not park your vehicle on private property. This event address is at 1412 Alden Road, Orlando, Florida 32803.
There is limited seating for this activity. Plan to arrive early to get a seat. This round table can hold twelve people. Please bring your sketchbook, pen and colors, meet old friends and make new friendships with people who share a passion for urban sketching. Let’s #sketchtogether! Plus, don’t over bring your art supplies because there is limited room at the restaurant table.
Cost of this Activity? This is a free event. All artists are welcome to buy their own drinks and food. Costs range from $10-$20+ plus tax/tip. This restaurant has a variety of food and beverages to choose from.
How to dress for this event? This is summertime so dress in cool comfortable clothing. Inside of the restaurant will have the A/C going and might be cold. Bring a light jacket if you get cold inside of a restaurant.
What am I sketching at this event? As an artist you want to tell a visual story. Sketch people, statues, displays, food & drinks, landscape, wall décor, bar area, and much more. The goal is to create a sketch that does not look like it is photographed. You can add other art elements to the sketch too. Be open and creative. Don’t worry about making sketching mistakes/errors. Go with it and continue the creativity. At the end of the end, you’ll have a creative artwork that is unique and to be proud of.
Encounters with people and art supporters on location – Don’t worry about people looking and asking questions about your artwork. Engage them and educate them on Urban Sketching. There maybe other artists out there who might want to join next time.
Sketchbooks Thrown Down – We will end up our sketch event with Urban Sketchers’ traditional ‘Sketchbooks Throw down’ and a group photo to be published on social media.
