This morning, I received a text message from area code 805, which is from Southern California. This message states [REGIONSBANK – Our team locked your account on July 2nd due to irregular usage. Please visit: Regionsunlock.com to unlock. Reply STOP to OPT OUT. .] Do NOT click on the provided link that the text message gave. This is NOT an official Regions website. It is a SCAM. Here’s why… About a month ago I received a similar message that my account was locked/blocked. I’m not surprise that the scammers are using the same tactics.
First of all, I don’t have Regions Bank accounts. I thought this was crazy to alert me to something I don’t even have any accounts with. This is when I started my investigation into this text message from a scammer. Then I conducted a search on the phone number that came up on my cell phone caller ID. It was firmed that this text message was a scam and they were phishing for victims. It is believed that the scammer wants you to call and or text back the number. Do NOT make contact with this scammer.
Next, I conducted a search on the URL link and found nothing. It just came up as a blank webpage. There is no much information on the URL link. If you feel you have an account with Regions Bank please go directly to an official Regions website and conduct your online banking. Never use any links that the scammer provides.
For more information on Email fraud, Phishing or Spoofs please visit www.regions.com/help/report-fraud . This information is location on the bottom of this webpage. More information is on the FCC government website too.
Finally, if you see something suspicious then say something to your local law enforcement and or company security department who your doing business with. They want to stop scammers and put them in jail. Don’t be a victim. Play it safe.
